Harbourside Nights exceeds all expectations
Wow! The concentration of talent that graced the stage at the Eagles Club on friday night was astounding.
Current HiT students Keanna Arnason and Jarrett Plett set the bar very high with an amazing opening set.
Fortunately they were followed by HiT graduate Alex Marusyk , otherwise known as Treebeard, whose laid back yet powerful and soulful voice mesmerized the audience.
Graduates Joel Blackburn and Ian Huntley , of the rock band Kith and Kin, excited us all with a fine performance of their original material.
Just when we thought, this can’t get any better, Jarrett Plett on Cajun and Daniel Lane on Jembe took to the stage with the Vancouver Jam Band and infected everyone with their tight and powerful Afro/Latin rhythms.
The last act of the night was QTRIPZY accompanied by Zac Levine and Eric Shi. We were all wondering if there was anything left in the Harbourside tank. About a minute into QTRIPZY’S performance we all realized that we were in the presence of greatness – He rocked the house.
Congratulations to all the performers and to all the students that put the show together, set up the equipment and monitored the sound.
Others deserving a special mention: Music Business instructor, Brian Watson DBO, who coined the title “Harbourside Nights” and hosted the evening, with the help of HiT graduate, Zac Levine.
Keanna Arnason, for her work in assisting to promote the event. QTRIPZY and Zac for manning the door and selling raffle tickets. Hit instructor Mike Rogerson, for supervising the transport and setting up of the sound – and for imparting his knowledge and expertise to the students.
Just to put a little icing on the cake some great prizes were won by some lucky ticket holders.
We’re getting ready for the next “Harbourside Nights” - See you there!
