Shirley Gnome – Champ of Comedy
Shirley Gnome scored a surprise knockout Saturday night at Vancouver’s Rio Theatre as the self-described “white trash burlesque” performer was named Patrick Maliha’s People’s Champ of Comedy and took home the award’s $20,000 purse.
“It was an amazingly close race,” Maliha told The Sun, “but I think Shirley just happened to have the perfect combination of humour, likability and showmanship. I truly think this is just the beginning for her and she’s going to go on to far bigger things.”
Ashley Slater, alter ego, Shirley Gnome, has been and continues to record her comedy albums at Harbourside Studios with the help of HiT graduate, Nick Nixon.
Post Audio instructor, Ken Cade, is working on two movies at the moment, as Sound Designer and Mixer : He’s currently mixing Movie of the Week, “Love at the Thanksgiving Day Parade” for the Hallmark Channel and has started the sound design on “Holiday Spin”, a Christmas movie starring Ralph Macchio.
