Music Business Arts Program

This program covers all aspects of the modern music industry from a marketing, legal and financial perspective. Students learn basic audio engineering skills, music industry networking skills, product promotion, business contracts, financing, budgeting, accounting, music history, publishing, copyright agreements, album production, and how to start-up and establish a music production company. Other topics covered include: concert promotion, album artwork design, artist development, artist management, music festival promotion, touring, online distribution and marketing, and record label creation/management.

Real Industry Professionals

Industry organizations are analyzed and studied by instruction from their own members and alumni; National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), the Audio Engineering Society (AES), the International Music Market (MIDEM), Grammy Awards, Juno Awards, SXSW, Performance Rights Societies (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, SOCAN, SAMRO etc), Directors Guild of Canada (DGC), Guild of Canadian Film Composers, Songwriters Association of Canada (SAC), Nashville Songwriters Association International(NSAI) etc.

Accelerated Curriculum

Music Business Arts is a nine-month, three term program consisting of 720 hours of hands-on and classroom instruction. Taking advantage of the same state-of the-art facility that our audio engineering and music production students do. Real world music industry and business professionals prepare you for entry into the International Music Industry. You will learn, design and implement internet marketing, branding, social networking, communication and hard business skills.

Access To Creative Technology

Students have independent access to lab time over and above their classroom hours. Each student has his or her own workstation for the duration of the course, including an new Apple iMac Desktop computer loaded with all the latest software required for the course. This program offers internship placement assistance and all students participating gain practical experience in the industry.
